The Field Guide is a navigational tool which informs the player about the ecosystem of their current island. Once its recipe is unlocked. the Field Guide can be crafted from the Building Menu. This item can occasionally be found in abandoned chests found throughout islands.
Uses
The Guide can be opened to track the health of an island's ecosystem, which is useful during the Restoration process. While in use, any corrupted nodes become highlighted by a red aura.
Left-clicking will turn the pages to reveal additional information.
The Guide tracks the following information:
- Island Biome (top left)
- Ecosystem Health (top right)
- Forestry Ratio (number of trees on the island / number of trees required to balance the ecosystem)
- Flora Diversity (number of floral species on the island / number of floral species required to balance the ecosystem)
- Presence of Decomposers
- Animal Population (number of animals on the island / number of animals required to balance the ecosystem)
- Insect Diversity (number of insect species on the island / number of insect species required to balance the ecosystem)
- Corruption (fungal nodes, rotten trees, and broken birdhouses)
- Floral Species (second page) (shows floral icons to avoid when cycling wild seeds)
- Insect Species (second page) (shows insect icons)
- Animal Individuals (third page) (shows animal icons and life stage)
