Hammers

Hammers are one of the basic hand tools which may be equipped by the player.

Uses

Hammers are used to build, demolish, and repair structures. While the hammer is equipped, press B to open the build menu. The menu itself is divided into several categories, including: Building; Home; Navigation; Storage; and Industry.

Construction and Repair

After selecting the building component you want to construct, a placeable echo of that item will appear in the overworld. Use Q/E to rotate the item, use the cursor to move its placement, and left-click to set it down. Every building component has a construction resource cost, which is displayed directly underneath the echo. Components selected from the 'Building' tab spawn as bare frames, and must be repaired.

Damaged structures can be repairing by hitting them with a hammer. The component's repair cost is displayed directly beneath the item, similar to build mode. While repairing damaged structures and building frames, the hammer's action bar will appear. Consecutive strikes inside the yellow bar can repair multiple damaged structures at once, saving a great deal of time on larger builds.

Demolition

Demolishing structures is quite simple: just hold the right mouse button to enter "dismantle mode" and search for components which can be recycled, highlighted by a dark red aura. Left-click to demolish that component, and you will receive all resources originally used in its construction. Demolishing ruins is a convenient way to harvest advanced crafted goods without gathering any raw resources.
